FOUNDATIONS IN LITERACY
We’re excited to officially introduce the name of our reading program: Foundations in Literacy! This name reflects our commitment to building strong reading skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning for children and their families. We are proud to host the fourth session of Foundations in Literacy, a family-centered reading program designed to support children at every stage of their early literacy journey. In previous years, our Preschool Reading Program served children ages 3–5 and did not include kindergarten students. This year marks an exciting milestone as we welcome kindergartners into the program for the first time. We’re also expanding to include a second age group for students in 1st through 3rd grade, allowing children to continue growing as readers while staying connected to the program.
To better support growing readers, Foundations in Literacy is now organized into age-based groups:
- Mini Readers – Pre-K and Kindergarten
- Focused on children ages 3–5 and kindergartners, Mini Readers introduces early literacy skills through read-alouds, interactive storytelling, and hands-on activities. Children explore letters, sounds, and basic vocabulary through fun, creative exercises that make reading exciting. Families are encouraged to participate, helping children connect learning to home and community life.
- Mighty Readers – 1st through 3rd Grade
- Mighty Readers builds on foundational skills to strengthen reading fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking. Students engage in small-group discussions, themed activities, and creative projects that relate to the stories. Families are invited to join, fostering conversation, teamwork, and a love of books that extends beyond the classroom.
- Master Readers – 4th through 5th Grade (coming soon)
- Master Readers will focus on advanced reading skills, deeper comprehension, and independent critical thinking. Students will explore chapter books, analyze themes, and participate in group projects that encourage problem-solving and creativity. Families will continue to be a part of the learning process through discussion guides and at-home activities.
With guidance from our dedicated NPAI team, families learn and grow together, strengthening literacy skills, fostering connection, and laying a strong foundation for future academic success.
REGISTRATION STARTING SOON!!!

Last season, we were thrilled to welcome a very special guest reader! For the first time, one of our featured authors joined us in person. Author Andrea Wren read her delightful children’s book, "Maggie and the Bee Charmer", during one of our sessions.
